Today I am honoring Gracie Richards, Nicolet High School, Class of 2020. I have also known Gracie since she was 4 years old and it was an absolute pleasure to see her last summer for her senior session and catch up on where life has taken her. Her mom shared this with me this week. “Gracie has completed all of her coursework and I am thrilled to say, despite being hospitalized more days than being in school this year, she will be graduating as we had hoped! She received the Dean’s Scholarship at the University of Denver. She will take a gap year to work on her health and continue her work on the Teen Advisory Council at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and has been asked by GI Staff there to serve as a patient and family advocate! She has never lost sight of her hopes and dreams through all of her challenges. We are so very proud of her and know great things are in store!”
Sweet Gracie, what an incredible, resilient, beautiful and talented young woman you’ve become! I wish you all the best with your health, with your education and with your hopes and dreams for the future! Congratulations and best wishes!
