Ella | Class of 2020 | Milwaukee School of Languages | Milwaukee Senior Portrait Photographer

It was so fun hanging out with beautiful Ella and her mom a few weeks back at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center.  It seems like just yesterday I was shooting Ella’s sister, Cicely, for her senior year,  but three years have gone by just like that! My camera loved Ella, but even better than that, I absolutely loved getting to know her and hearing about her plans for the future. It was fun catching up with her mom, Sarah, again too. The best part of my job is getting to meet such lovely people!

During our session, we saw some absolutely gorgeous lotus flowers growing in the pond. We were all kind of enamored with them, recalling that it’s not very often that you see them. I’ve been to that pond dozens of times and hadn’t ever seen so many lotus flowers there before.  Sarah later sent me some background on the meaning of the lotus flower. In many cultures the lotus flower is regarded as a symbol of enlightenment and rebirth. The flowers grow deep in the mud, far away from the sun, but eventually they reach the light and become the most magnificent flowers ever.  What a beautiful analogy for life, in general….there will be periods of darkness and difficult days, but if we look for the light, we can grow and evolve into something even more beautiful.

Ella–I wish you nothing but the best in your senior year and beyond. I can’t wait to hear where life takes you. And my wish for you is that wherever that may be, you will find the light. 🙂

Hi, I'm Erin...

...and this is me and my soulmate. Wanna know more about me and my crazy, beautiful, chaotic life? I have seven kids.

I LOVE coffee, travel, live music, fresh flowers and all things yoga. I'm not a fan of beer or bonfires and I REALLY can't stand bushy beards. Ewww!

I dream of living on the beach one day, where I'll sip margaritas and watch the sunset with my husband.
