I loved photographing this gorgeous family together a few weeks ago on a beautiful fall morning at Hubbard Park. The bond and the love that they share was unmistakeable as we spent our time together that morning. I have a special place in my heart for Carol and her family so I was truly touched to have the opportunity to photograph them when they were all together last month. Carol and I were first introduced by a mutual friend because we share the uncommon yet devastating experience of being widowed at a young age. However, we quickly learned that we also share the unique life circumstance of motherhood in a big, blended family. Carol may be the only other woman I know personally who understands both the unparalleled emotional layers and special kind of love that comes from being a stepmom as well as the depths of grief and loss one experiences as a young widow. Dear Carol, I am deeply grateful to have met you and have no doubt we’ve been connected for a reason.
