What an incredibly special event! Yet another reason why I love my job so much is that I get to witness and document some of the most special and remarkable moments in my clients’ lives. And this event… This. Was. A. Tearjerker. While I always imagine a courtroom to feel quite formal, sterile or even a little unnerving, the feeling in this room was everything but. From the moment this loving family and their group of supporters entered the courtroom last Friday, there was an overwhelming feeling of joy. Judge Mary Triggiano presided over the adoption proceedings with a sense of delight and an air of humor which set the tone of excitement and happiness that enveloped the room and permeated the hearts of its visitors. This was my first time photographing an adoption but it brought me such joy that I certainly hope its not my last. My favorite moment was big sister, Sanaa, holding her baby brother in her arms while banging the gavel, a symbol of the finality of this moment in the courtroom yet simultaneously marking the dawn of a new and exciting adventure for this beautiful family.
