Over the weekend while visiting my family in Minnesota for the holiday, I had the pleasure of photographing this gorgeous girl for a senior mini session. Ava is a senior at Woodbury High School and the daughter of one of my dearest friends. It was especially fun to photograph Ava for this special milestone, considering I can still remember holding her when she was just a tiny baby. The last time I photographed Ava was also on a cold and snowy day in Minnesota, fifteen years ago when we met at their family farm for photo session over Thanksgiving weekend. I captured Ava and her big brother, Carter, in this iconic photo that follows, one of my all-time favorites. My friendship with Ava’s mom, Kristine, has spanned miles and decades and while we have spent most of the last 30 years in different states and don’t get to see each other as often as I’d like, we always pick up right where we left off. ❤️ Kristine, I love you so much and am so grateful for our lifelong friendship. You have raised two incredible humans. Ava is the spitting image of you — absolutely beautiful inside and out! I can’t wait to see where her journey takes her next. (I may be secretly and selfishly hoping her path leads her to Marquette so that ours can cross more often). Best wishes to you, Ava, as you finish high school and move on to the next adventure. Wherever you land, I know it will be incredible! ❤️ xoxo
